Celebrating our people in Glamox!
It started as a way to celebrate the Women of Glamox for International Women’s Day, and has developed into an ongoing way of casting a spotlight on most valuable assets; our people! Not only are we dedicated to promoting diversity, but we are determined to grow, develop and encourage our women, especially within the maritime branch. Here are some of the stories from our talented women.
Johanne - HR & Office Specialist
People are the most valuable asset in life. Both at work and in our private lives, the relationships and people around us are of great worth!
Being a mother of four with a passion for family and friendships, I value the moments of connections and encounters with my colleagues in Glamox.
In my job at Glamox and throughout my previous years at Luminell, I have really appreciated the opportunity to build a family culture where we are all significant individuals, who bring our best to the table. Cheering each other on, seeking to listen and understand, going the extra mile for the team, and winning and losing together has been vital to seeing the individual's potential in the bigger picture. Working with people in Glamox and seeing our value outlived as competent, committed, connected and responsible people, both in the close connections and in the broader company community, is a joy!
Let’s live with our passion as individuals, and value our diversity.
Glamox is all about people!
Wei Ling - Asia Director, Marine, Offshore & Wind
I’m privileged to have so many great colleagues and a lovely team who inspire me every day. At home, I have two amazing boys who motivate me to be a good mother. Learning from both, I would like to share four characteristics that are important to me in my private life and as a female leader at Glamox:
- Be thankful and positive. Appreciate what you have or can achieve instead of focusing on what you don’t have or cannot achieve. It aids positivity. It doesn’t mean being less ambitious. Quite the opposite – by focusing on the positive you gain extra power and energy to achieve new goals and targets in a positive and constructive way.
- Be a person of integrity. Treat others how you would want them to treat you. Dare to speak out and make that extra effort for justice and be upfront about your own shortcomings and mistakes.
- Be generous and inclusive. I love working in an international environment. My own multicultural background has taught me to be respectful, generous, and inclusive of others despite their gender, age, nationality, and culture. We need everyone to succeed.
- Utilize your emotional strength to motivate others. I don’t mean hide your feelings and pretend to be strong. Quite the opposite. And understand the feelings of others as well. In this beautiful world where digitalization offers many possibilities, remember that it’s all about people. Use your emotional strength to communicate in an open and interactive way. Happy and motivated people make teams succeed.
I still practice and learn about these characteristics every day. I want all my colleagues to be happy and know that their value is seen and appreciated.
Martina - Technical Compliance and Certification Manager, Marine, Offshore & Wind.
I'm originally from Croatia but I am now living in Norway with my husband and our one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. I have a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and over 15 years of experience working in design offices.
Recently, I embarked on a new career path as a Technical Compliance and Certification Manager, working with Product Compliance. My job is to ensure that our products comply with applicable regulations worldwide. I work across different disciplines and liaise with third parties, making my job fantastic and exciting. It matches my personality perfectly. I'm also responsible for keeping up to date with new legislation related to green goals and sustainability, which is critical for moving our company towards a greener future.
Working in a male-dominated environment has never been a problem for me, and I'm happy to work in an environment where skills and results are valued more than gender. I work with a fantastic team and ensuring that our products are of high quality is very important to all of us. I'm grateful to work in such a great working environment with skilled and ambitious people.
