Dun Laoghaire Library & Cultural Centre

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown’s LexIcon library and cultural centre is a four-storey €36.6m project near the harbour’s seafront. It has reading rooms, a children’s library, a 100-seater performance space and a local history section. It also houses the first municipal gallery in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown as well as a cafe.

The LexIcon was designed to embrace the modern concept of what a library should be - a key community space where all are welcome. When people walk through the door it was hoped they would get a sense of ‘wow’. It is a stunning public space and quite extraordinary. The building is key for the county’s cultural programme and a vibrant centre of learning.

Glamox Ireland Ltd. supplied lighting solutions throughout the Lexicon Library from individual table lamp needs to large lecture theatre areas. The library is designed to enhance the natural light as well as ensuring correct lighting levels for comfortable, safe reading at all times of day & night. Glamox provided this using the Luxo Ninety, Mix, Vind-S415, E85-R & E85-S and the A20-S320 & S420.
