In 2022, Glamox set ambitious science-based climate goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain. These goals, now validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), are aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C in line with the Paris Agreement.
Our near-term targets (base year 2022):
- Cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030
- Cut Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030
Now, three years into our journey, we’re seeing results:
Here’s how far we’ve come:
- 16% reduction in Scope 1 emissions
- 12% increase in Scope 2 emissions
- 27% reduction in Scope 3 emissions
- 27% reduction in total emissions, largely due to lower emissions from the use of sold products
Although 92% of the electricity we used in 2024 came from renewable sources, our Scope 2 emissions have increased by 12% compared to 2022. This rise is linked to changes in how the purchasing of guarantees of origin (GoOs) of our consumed electricity has been executed for 2024. We expect this increase to be only temporary and are working towards increasing the renewable share towards 100%.
How we’re getting there
To reach our climate targets, we’ve developed a comprehensive transition plan that spans our operations and value chain. Some key actions include:
- Helping our customers reduce their emissions with connected lighting systems and LED luminaires
- Designing circular products based on the Glamox Circular Design Principles
- Reducing environmental impact from materials and packaging by focusing on reuse, alternatives, and recycling – including hazardous waste
- Implementing energy-saving solutions in our facilities, including efficient HVAC and lighting systems
- Increasing the share of renewable energy that we source
What’s next?
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, particularly the significant reduction in Scope 3 emissions. But to hit our 2030 targets, we know we need to do more. That includes further electrification of our operations and a stronger focus on sustainability across our supplier network.
We remain committed to being part of the solution – helping both our customers and ourselves cut emissions and build a brighter, greener future.
