Code cracked: Dynamic lighting for an agile startup

Starting the day motivated, powering through the midday slump with energy, and ending the workday in a good mood – what might sound like an idealistic dream at first can actually become reality: with lighting that supports the circadian (sleep-wake) rhythm.

Founded in 2018, the DKB Code Factory in Berlin takes advantage of the unique biological effects of light and relies on a professional Human Centric Lighting (HCL) concept from Glamox. HCL lighting solutions mimic the natural changes in daylight, which has been proven to improve concentration, increase alertness, and reduce signs of fatigue.

The newly designed work environment of the DKB Code Factory in the heart of Berlin has been equipped with bright, dimmable recessed ceiling lighting using C95 luminaires with a color temperature of 4000 Kelvin (neutral white). In some group offices, the installed C95-R recessed luminaires also feature a CCT tuneable white function, which automatically adjusts the color temperature of the light throughout the day to match the natural daylight spectrum.

This dynamic, biologically effective light—known as the "loop," ranging from 2700 Kelvin (warm white) to 6500 Kelvin (cool white)—enhances employee well-being, concentration, and motivation. It also has a positive impact on health. Alternatively, users can manually control both color temperature and brightness. The combination of intelligent lighting control and energy-efficient LEDs ensures a health-promoting lighting solution with low energy consumption.

The LED recessed panels from the C95 luminaire family, integrated into the grid ceiling, create dynamic lighting accents for a highly dynamic workday. They are characterized by their clean, minimalist design and high luminous efficacy. The slim aluminum frame almost completely disappears into the T-profile of the grid ceiling, giving the luminaire a subtle and stylish presence in the room.

The homogeneous light distribution of the C95-R enables uniform illumination throughout the modern workspace of the DKB Code Factory. All luminaires integrate seamlessly into the cutting-edge design concept while fully complying with current workplace and screen workstation lighting regulations.

Thanks to the pleasant ambient lighting, the IT startup’s coding experts can work at their screens at any time of day with minimal glare—ideal conditions for developing innovative technologies and products with the potential to inspire users around the world.
